  • 11-4-2011

Two children have escaped from a car which burst into flames in a supermarket car park.

It happened just after 15:00 GMT at Sainsbury's at the Quays, Gloucester.

The four-year-old and 10-year-old girls were able to get out of the car but were treated for smoke inhalation by the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire County Council said they believed the fire had started in the radio of the Vauxhall Zafira.

Three other vehicles, a Vauxhall Astra, a Mini Cooper and a Citroen van parked nearby, were also set on fire and severely damaged.

Two fire engines and 12 firefighters were sent out to tackle the blaze.
