  • 11-29-2013

A man has been injured falling off scaffolding which collapsed after it was hit by a bus on a Black Country high street, firefighters have said.

West Midlands Fire Service said metal poles smashed through windows of the double decker bus outside The Venue restaurant on Dudley High Street.

A man in his forties was taken to hospital for minor knee and facial injuries, the ambulance service said.

The road was closed for six hours while engineers replaced the scaffolding.

There were no reports of any bus passengers being injured.

National Express confirmed that its 257 service, which serves customers between Dudley and Stourbridge, had been involved in the crash which happened about 09:45 GMT.

A spokesman said the company "would work with the authorities during the investigation into its cause".
