Southcote Primary School evacuated after chemicals dumped in swimming pool

  • 6-21-2014

A primary school has been evacuated after vandals dumped chemicals into its swimming pool.

Emergency services were called to Southcote Primary School in Reading after three teachers and six pupils reported feeling unwell.

It is believed that excessive amounts of chemicals were thrown into the pool during a break-in on Sunday night.

The school will be closed for the day and parents can collect their children from Blessed Hugh Farringdon School.

Officers from Thames Valley Police attended the school in Silchester Road, along with Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service.

The nine people who were affected did not require hospital treatment.

Police are appealing for information about any suspicious activity around the school on Sunday night.
