King's Cross flat fire: Man sentenced for double murder

  • 7-26-2015

A drug user who beat two men with a hammer and stabbed them before setting fire to a flat in a bid to destroy the evidence has been jailed for life.

Paul O'Shea, 37, was found guilty of murdering Othamane Majdouline and Leandro Da Silva.

The Old Bailey heard he hit and stabbed both men multiple times before setting fire to the flat in Stelfox House, Penton Rise, London.

O'Shea was told he must serve a minimum of 32 years for the attack.

During his trial, the jury heard O'Shea, of King's Cross, had gone to the flat of Mr Majdouline, a small-time drug dealer, to buy Class A drugs on 2 January.

But he got into an argument with Mr Majdouline and his friend Leandro Da Silva, from Islington, and started attacking them.

A post-mortem examination found O'Shea had hit Mr Da Silva with the hammer 10 times and stabbed him three times. Mr Majdouline was hit four times and stabbed three times.

Scotland Yard described the attack as "horrendous", following Friday's sentencing hearing.

O'Shea was also found guilty of arson and sentenced to seven years. The two sentences will run concurrently.
